Question: We haven't heard anything new on House for a while. Can you give us something nice and juicy? --Mariel

Ausiello: Not sure if this is juicy but it's definitely nice: I think House and his asylum mates are going on a field trip to an amusement park in the two-hour opener. According to a completely sane insider, the show shot scenes on location at Universal Studios last week. I'm told House was working the Skydiving Fan. Whatever that is.

House Boss: "When Hugh Laurie Has a Note, You Listen"

Everybody's favorite grinchy genius is coming back to the Emmy Awards!

House the series was nominated for Best Drama, and the great Hugh Laurie got his fourth straight nomination for Outstanding Drama Actor.

We just caught up with House boss David Shore, and he told us the secret to the show's nomination streak, and he spilled some juicy deets on season six, including what House's time in the loony bin does to the genius's delicate and very important brain...

So what specifically earned House a nomination this year? "I think people were just in the habit of voting for us; it's been four years," said Shore. (Hey, folks, that right there is what we call charming and refreshing honesty!) Still, Shore said, "I wish the crew had gotten a few more individual nominations, but it's really important to all of us that this be recognized as a good show. It's just a thrill to be recognized for that." Nonetheless, if there is a secret to Emmy nominations, he's not telling the likes of us, "Because I'd just do it again next year."

As for the star of the show, Shore credits Laurie with being not just a genius but also damn economical in this tough recession climate: "He's just an incredibly talented actor who frees us up as writers and frees up, I would say, every single department, because whatever you ask that man to do, he delivers, and he delivers it brilliantly. He understands this character as well as anybody does. When Hugh Laurie has a note, you listen, because he gets it. He's as passionate about this show as anybody else is and that makes him a pleasure to work with." We never get tired of people saying nice things about Hugh Laurie. We've cruelly kidnapped him from his home in England, and while we keep him prisoner here in the States, the least we can do is treat him kindly.

    CITAZIONE
Fox's "House" had lined up James Earl Jones as a guest star. He plays an African dictator who becomes a patient at Princeton-Plainsboro. The installment will air in the fall. The series starts its new season Sept. 21 with a two-hour episode.

Fox isn't saying a lot more. But imagine Jones and Hugh Laurie getting into arguments. The show could be a scorcher.

Franka Potente to Guest Star on House
Today 3:30 PM PDT by JENNIFER GODWIN

Network sources confirm to us exclusively that Franka Potente (Run, Lola, Run; The Bourne Identity) is set to guest star on House this season.
But where does she fit into the story?
According to sources, the German-born actress appears in the two-hour season premiere, which is directed by executive producer Katie Jacobs.
Fellow House executive producer David Shore recently told us, "Those two hours take place basically exclusively within the institution" over a period of six months, as damaged doc Gregory House's (Hugh Laurie) attempts to recover from the hallucinations that crippled him at the end of season five.
Do you think Franka will play a doctor, a patient or a figment of House's imagination? Post in the comments!

'House' boss drops 'Huddy' bombshell: 'We're stepping back from it a little bit'
    by Michael Ausiello
Categories: 'House', 2009 Summer Press Tour, Ausiello TV, News

Brace yourselves, Huddy fans: House creator David Shore dropped a mini bombshell about your favorite couple at Fox’s press tour party last night.

Discussing what impact last season’s imaginary hook-up will have on House and Cuddy’s relationship this fall, the exec said, “We’re stepping back from it a little bit. We’re not ignoring it. We have to carry forward… It’s going to go someplace eventually. But the beginning of this season is primarily focused on House trying to find some semblance of sanity, and not completely succeeding.”

For the rest of my candid on-camera Q&A with Shore, including his surprising thoughts on the Huddy sex backlash as well as his plans for Cameron and Chase this season, proceed to the video after the jump.

'House' stars react to 'Huddy' pullback: 'I think it's very smart'

    by Michael Ausiello
Categories: 'House', 2009 Summer Press Tour, Ausiello TV, News

House boss David Shore’s surprising announcement that he plans to temporarily “pull back” on House and Cuddy this season drew interesting reactions from co-stars Lisa Edelstein and Robert Sean Leonard at Fox’s press tour bash last night. “It’s never a step back in my book,” says Edelstein. Adds Leonard : “It’s very smart. It’s a very boring storyline. And fans don’t seem to lap it up.” Were they being serious or silly? And what did Edelstein have to say about the fake Huddy sex backlash? Our complete red carpet run-in is after the jump…

'House' scoop: Cameron and Chase 'back in their old jobs!'

    by Michael Ausiello

house-engagement_lIt’s the news Cameron and Chase fans have longed to hear: After two years spent mostly on the sidelines, Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer will be back in the trenches on House this season.

“They are both thrown back into their old jobs,” Morrison told us at last night’s Teen Choice Awards. “It’s been great actually. I have been working a lot and there are things that happen to House very early in the season that have a domino effect on all of the other characters.”

Those “things” involve a shake-up at Princeton Plainsboro that finds Foreman filling in for an ailing House as the hospital’s top doc. The transition is rocky to say the least. “Cameron was always very close and protective of House,” she says. “And to have her mentor be away in an asylum makes her contemplate life and career and him. Having him gone affects everyone he works with, personally and professionally.”

Further complicating matters will be Cameron and Chase’s status as newlyweds. “This season starts a few months from where we left off last season in the finale and Chase and Cameron are finding their groove as a married couple,” reveals Morrison, who hints at some friction now that they’re working alongside each other again. “That might put some strain on the marriage.

“They’re taking things up a notch [this season],” Morrison continues. “I think the audience will be able to enjoy seeing new things from all of us.”

For more House scoop, including details on the controversial plan to pull back on House and Cuddy, watch my exclusive Q&A with series creator David Shore below—if you haven’t already. (Reporting by Carrie Bell)

Season 6 of ‘House M.D.’: No Romance Between House and Cuddy
Creator reveals love affair getting pushed into the background

Towards the end of season 5 of the popular medical drama, Gregory House and Lisa Cuddy finally got to reenact what the audiences have been waiting for probably since the beginning of the series, albeit only in House’s imagination. Understandably, fans imagined the love affair would finally get to become real in the upcoming season, but creator David Shore is telling Michael Ausiello of The Ausiello Files that this is not happening.

Speculation had it for long that House and Cuddy – a couple known as Huddy to fans – would finally get their chance to live out their romance but it seems the series creator is bent on postponing that for as long as possible. If and when the two will get to be together is not yet certain, but what is known so far is that it will most surely not happen in season 6, which is to hit television screens this September.

“We’re stepping back from it a little bit. We’re not ignoring it.” Shore tells Ausiello of the Huddy romance. “We have to carry forward… It’s going to go someplace eventually. But the beginning of this season is primarily focused on House trying to find some semblance of sanity, and not completely succeeding.” the creator adds, speaking of what the focus of the upcoming season will fall on.

Fans know that season 5 finale saw House admitted to a mental institution after his hallucinations got increasingly worse. Because of this, the entire upcoming season will be centered solely on his trying to come up with an answer to his affliction, while also showing him “tormenting” the other inmates in the very specific House manner. The second promo trailer for season 6 indicates that a love interest for the doctor will also appear sometime in the season, but her identity is yet to be revealed.

“House M.D.” season 6 premieres on September 21. Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda has been cast as House’s roommate at the mental institution, while German-born actress Franka Potente will guest star in at least two episodes. For more details on the series, keep an eye on this space and, in the meanwhile, check out the trailer below and enjoy.

Ausiello: A member of the team gets fired in the first three episodes!

Question: Is it true that House moves in with Wilson after he returns from the asylum? —Joel

Ausiello: It’s true. That’s one of two major life changes the ornery doc makes early in the season. What’s the other one, you ask? Cooking lessons!
