It could be that those earrings are more than just impractical jewelry. My theory: that they are intrinsic rangefinders -- devices that, when detecting a Starbucks in range, give off a vibration that tells the wearer that it's time for a needed respite. That race appeared to be in chilly weather and, hey, the girl needs her java break -- time for a super-sized venti, triple-shot latte with a sprinkle of cin'min.
