Maybe I'm reading too much into it, maybe the writers are giving little hints like:
she's a big romantic....just like Ted.
In "Desperation Day" she wore yellow and she said she likes the smell of rain (rain, yellow umbrella)
and in the last episode when Zoey and Ted talk...and he asks her if he stole her from the Captain and Zoey answered that sometimes things have to fall apart to make room for better things.
Maybe that means that Ted will steal Nora from Barney and that act will cause Ted and Barney's friendship to fall apart but that it will have a happy end for all....
Maybe the wedding is not the first time he meets Nora but it's the moment he realizes who she is...aka the "room mate"
