TV Ratings Monday: 'The Chicago Code' Disappoints; 'Chuck' Stays Down; 'The Cape,' 'Harry's Law' Fall

    By Robert Seidman – February 8, 2011

    image

CBS won the night with adults 18-49 and total viewers. Fox was close behind, but that was thanks to a House that was up 16% vs. its last original to a 4.3 adults 18-49 rating and 12.32 million viewers. While the premiere of The Chicago Code retained a fair bit of House’s total viewers (9.4 million), it dropped to a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating. That has to be disappointing for Fox considering the Super Bowl the night before set an all-time viewing record. The half hour detail for The Chicago Code was a 2.6 adults 18-49 rating the first half hour and a 2.3 the second.

Chuck stayed down at the 1.7 adults 18-49 rating level, tied with its series low and against new competition on ABC and CBS, Harry’s Law dropped 19% to a series low 1.7 adults 18-49 rating. The Cape dropped 13% to a 1.3 rating.

In the 10pm showdown Hawaii Five-0 with a 2.8 adults 18-49 rating bested Castle’s 2.5 rating. Castle was up 4% vs. its last original.

CBS’s entire lineup was down vs the last originals on 1/17, but the declines were all small and in the 3%-5% range. Though Hawaii Five-0 won the 10pm hour, it tied a series low with adults 18-49.

CW’s 90210 was up 7% in the target women 18-34 demographic to a 1.5 rating. Gossip Girl gained 6% with women 18-34 to a 1.8 rating.

Late-night results are below the primetime data.

TV ratings: 'Mad Love' has OK premiere on a quiet Valentine's Day

Fast National ratings for Monday, Feb. 14, 2011

Whatever America was doing on Valentine's Day, it wasn't watching as much TV as usual. TV Ratings Monday: 'Mad Love' Starts Slowly For CBS; 'Chuck,' 'Harry's Law,' 'Hawaii Five-0' Hold At Lows; 'The Chicago Code' Falls

    By Bill Gorman – February 15, 2011

    image

CBS topped the ratings on Monday night, but its new sitcom Mad Love started slowly (for CBS) with just a 3.0 adults 18-49 rating (much lower than our polled readers expected), 10% below the average rating this spring for Rules of Engagement.

The rest of the night was up and down for CBS, as How I Met Your Mother fell 3% vs. last week to a 3.7 adults 18-49 rating. Two And A Half men dipped 5% to a 4.2 rating. But Mike & Molly bucked the trend, rising 9% to a 3.8 rating. Hawaii Five-0′s 2.8 rating was even with last week’s series low.

On NBC, Chuck held at its series low 1.7 adults 18-49 rating, The Cape fell to another series low, down a tenth to just a 1.2 rating, and Harry’s Law was steady vs. last week at its series low 1.7 rating.

ABC’s The Bachelor was down 9% vs. last week to a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating, while Castle fell 12% to a 2.2 rating.

On Fox, House tumbled 21% from last week’s Super Bowl promoted episode to a 3.4 rating, and The Chicago Code neared the flatline, dropping 17% to just a 2.0 rating.

The CW headed lower on the night, with 90210 scoring a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating down 22% from last week, and Gossip Girl also drawing a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating down 12% from last week.

glad that HIMYM is doing so good. I'm sad about Castle and Chuck though :( Thank God that Castle was already renewed for next season. These numbers are not so good. I hope it gets better because it's one of the very few wonderfully scripted shows atm.

TV Ratings Monday: 'Chuck' & 'Harry's Law' Don't Rise, But 'Castle' and 'The Chicago Code' Do; 'Mike & Molly,' 'Hawaii Five-0' Drop

ABC edged out CBS for the night with adults 18-49 and CBS won with total viewers.

All CBS shows were down a bit from last week. How I Met Your Mother was down a tenth to a 3.6 adults 18-49 rating and Mad Love dropped two-tenths in its second week to a 2.8 rating. Unsurprisingly, with Two and a Half Men airing a repeat, Mike & Molly dropped from last week’s 3.8 rating all the way down to a 3.2 rating. That didn’t help Hawaii Five-0 any as it dropped a tenth from last week to a series low 2.7 adults 18-49 rating.

All of NBC’s shows were flat vs. last week with Chuck and Harry’s Law each pulling a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating and The Cape pulling a 1.2.

The Bachelor rose to a season high 3.3 adults 18-49 rating between 8-10p, that didn’t hurt Castle any as it rose from last week’s 2.2 all the way up to a 2.6 adults 18-49 rating.

House rose a tenth to a 3.5 adults 18-49 rating and The Chicago Code also rose a tenth to a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating.

Updated TV Ratings: 'Fringe,' 'Smallville,' 'Supernatural' Steady; 'Blue Bloods' Rises; 'CSI: NY' Slip

    By Robert Seidman – February 26, 2011

    image

Fox and CBS tied for the night with adults 18-49 and Fringe was steady versus last week with a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating last night. At 8pm Kitchen Nightmares scored a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating, down a tenth from last week’s 1.7.

The Defenders and CSI: NY each slipped a tenth to 1.2 and 1.7 adults 18-49 ratings respectively. But Blue Bloods was up two tenth to a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating.

Supernatural and Smallville were steady versus last week with each pulling a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating.

Fringe’s number was at the lower end of what Fox’s Kevin Reilly has said would be acceptable for a Friday. Barring further drops, a lot of people will be on pins and needles until May.

Though Smallville and Supernatural each averaged out to a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating, the half hour data was a little different (1.0, 1.1 for Smallville, 1.0, 0.9 for Supernatural). Though Blue Bloods averaged a higher 1.7 rating (half hour = 1.8, 1.6), the half hour data for CSI: NY was the same only in reverse. (1.6, 1.8). Fringe was a 1.5 for both half hours.

TV ratings: 'Fringe' steady on Friday, CBS cruises to victory

    March 12, 2011 11:52 AM ET

There was little change in "Fringe" Watch 2011 on Friday: The show's total audience was down slightly from its last original episode two weeks ago, but its demographic ratings held steady.

Otherwise it was a pretty typical Friday, which means CBS led the night by a wide margin. The Eye averaged 10.6 million viewers and a 6.5 rating/10 share in households, grabbing far and away the most viewers for the night. NBC was the best of the rest with 5.8 million viewers and a 3.8/7. ABC (4.75 million, 2.9/5) came in third, followed by FOX (3.95 million, 2.3/4). A night of repeats on The CW drew 1.4 million viewers and a 0.9/2.

CBS also finished first in the adults 18-49 demographic with a 1.8 rating. The demo race was much closer, with FOX coming in second at 1.6. ABC and NBC tied for third at 1.4, while The CW scored a 0.5.

    Friday hour by hour:

    8 p.m.

CBS: "The Defenders" season finale (9 million viewers, 5.6/10 households)
FOX: "Kitchen Nightmares" (4.1 million, 2.5/4)
    ABC: "Supernanny" (4 million, 2.5/4)
NBC: "Who Do You Think You Are?" rerun (3.9 million, 2.6/5)
The CW: "Smallville" rerun (1.6 million, 1.0/2)

    18-49 leader: "Kitchen Nightmares" (1.7)

    9 p.m.

CBS: "CSI: NY" (11 million, 6.8/12)
    NBC: "Dateline" (6.4 million, 4.2/7)
ABC: "Primetime: What Would You Do?" (4.35 million, 2.6/5)
    FOX: "Fringe" (3.8 million, 2.2/4)
The CW: "Supernatural" rerun (1.3 million, 0.8/1)

    18-49 leader: "CSI: NY" (2.0)

    10 p.m.

CBS: "Blue Bloods" (11.75 million, 7.2/13)
    NBC: "Dateline" (7.1 million, 4.6/8)
    ABC: "20/20" (5.9 million, 3.7/7)

18-49 leader: "Blue Bloods" and "Dateline" tied at 1.9

TV Ratings Monday: "Chuck" Dips to New Low, "Castle" Bests "Hawaii Five-0"; Dancing Premieres Down

    By Robert Seidman – March 22, 2011

    image

The premiere of Dancing with the Stars scored a 5.1 adults 18-49 ratings and 22.3 million viewers, leading ABC to a nightly win, but that was down 20% from last year’s spring premiere. Last year’s spring premiere averaged a 6.4 adults 18-49 rating and 24.2 million viewers on Monday, March 22, 2010. Castle was boosted 18% to a season high 3.3 adults 18-49 rating and bested Hawaii Five-0′s 2.9 (which was up 4%) for the 10p hour. Look for some adjustment to Castle’s numbers in the final due to DWTS overrun. Castle’s 30 minute breakdown was a 3.6 adults 18-49 for the first half hour and minutes and a 3.0 for the second.

On NBC, Chuck slipped 6% to a series low 1.5 adults 18-49 rating. The Event was steady with an anemic 1.2 and season/series-low tying adults 18-49 rating and Harry’s Law slipped 11% to a season/series low 1.6 rating in adults 18-49.

On Fox, The Chicago Code was steady with a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating, and earlier in the night House was off 3% to a 3.4 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS, How I Met Your Mother scored a season low 2.9 adults 18-49 rating, down 15% from its last original. Mad Love scored a 2.3, and that was up 10% from last week. Mike & Molly was down 12% from its last original to a season/series low 3.0 adults 18-49 rating.

TV Ratings Monday: 'Chuck,' 'Mad Love,' 'Law & Order:LA,' 'Mike & Molly' Fall To Series Lows; 'Castle' Trounces 'Hawaii Five-0'

    By Bill Gorman - April 12, 2011

    image

ABC’s Dancing with the Stars topped the night’s adults 18-49 ratings with a 4.3 rating, but that was still down 9% vs. last week. Castle was the only broadcast show up on the night (but I caution you to wait for final adjustments before too much celebrating), rising 11% to a 3.1 rating.

NBC’s Chuck fell to a series low 1.3 adults 18-49 rating on Monday night down 13% vs. its last original episode (3/21/11), and the re-premiere of Law & Order: Los Angeles stumbled badly, drawing just a 1.5 rating for its two hour special, down 32% from its last original episode (12/1/10). Our polled readers called it!

CBS’s line up got caught in the downdraft as well, slumping across the board. How I Met Your Mother dropped 10% (vs. 3/21/11) to a season low 2.7 adults 18-49 rating. Mad Love also fell 19% (vs. 3/28/11) to a series low 1.9 rating. Mike & Molly, at 9pm with an original for the first time, fell 17% vs. its last 9:30 telecast to a series low 2.5 rating. Hawaii Five-0 was caught under a bad wave, tumbling 17% (vs. 3/21/11) to a series low 2.4 rating.

Fox’s House slid along with the crowd, down 6% to (what I believe is, checking now) a series low 3.2 adults 18-49 rating. The Chicago Code was the only broadcast primetime show even on the night, matching the series/season low 1.8 rating of its last original episode.

ABC topped the nights adults 18-49 ratings. Surprisingly, Univision topped an all new NBC line up by 50% among adults 18-49.

Late-night ratings are below the primetime data.

TV ratings: 'Dancing' rules Monday again, 'Chuck,' 'HIMYM,' 'Law & Order: LA' all low

Fast National ratings for Monday, April 11, 2011

"Dancing With the Stars" dominated Monday's ratings as it typically does, but the competition put up less of a fight than usual: Shows like "How I Met Your Mother," "Chuck," "House" and "Law & Order: LA" all struggled.

"Dancing" was off a bit from last Monday's show, but it still led ABC to dominant win for the evening. The Alphabet averaged 17.85 million viewers and an 11.3 rating/17 share in households, more than double the audience of its nearest competitor. CBS (7.6 million, 4.8/7) came in second, a little ahead of FOX (7.5 million, 4.5/7). NBC finished fourth with 5.3 million viewers and a 3.5/5, while The CW's repeats scored a meager 686,000 viewers and a 0.5/1.

ABC also led the adults 18-49 demographic by a wide margin, posting a 3.9 rating to second-place FOX's 2.5. CBS, 2.3, took third, followed by NBC, 1.4, and The CW, 0.3.

    Monday hour by hour:

    8 p.m.

ABC: "Dancing With the Stars" (19.35 million viewers, 12.2/19 households)
    FOX: "House" (8.95 million, 5.3/8)
CBS: "How I Met Your Mother" (6.8 million, 4.3/7)/"Mad Love" (5.45 million, 3.4/5)

TV ratings: 'Dancing With the Stars' rules Monday again, 'Chuck' ticks up

    May 3, 2011 11:53 AM ET

Increased competition meant that the ratings for "Dancing With the Stars" dipped from last week's numbers, but ABC still led Monday night by a wide margin. Elsewhere, "Chuck" rose a little in the 18-49 demographic over its last original episode (1.4 vs. 1.3), as did "Law & Order: LA," while "House" and "The Chicago Code" were both down.

ABC drew 18 million viewers and an 11.4 rating/17 share in households Monday, more than double the average for No. 2 CBS (7.8 million, 5.0/8). FOX came in third with 7 million viewers and a 4.2/6). NBC (4.3 million, 2.8/4) finished fourth. The CW fell from last week, drawing 1.4 million people and a 1.0/1.

ABC also won the adults 18-49 race handily, averaging a 3.9 rating in the demo. CBS, 2.4, beat out FOX, 2.2, for second place. NBC averaged 1.4 and The CW 0.7.
