I don't know how long it takes to complete an episode. I once read where a full season (23-24, hour-long episodes on TV) is the equivalent to shooting 3 full-length feature films.

Vancouver used to be a plus for television production, from a cost-analysis position, compared to a similar shoot in the U.S., but that advantage may be less these days. Vancouver has many big sound stages in Burnaby, B.C., and there is a talented pool of production people and actors from which to draw. Plus, the greater Vancouver area has stunning scenery for exterior shots...when the fickle weather cooperates.
