Heather, you should not hold back so much -- feel free to "open up more and let us know how you really feel." ;) :)

And I agree -- this was a great episode in which to end the first half of the season (just about). The previews, and the pics that we've been treated to from forthcoming episodes, hold promise for more good fun in 2013. I hope that Emma can discover some latent powers with which she can blunt Regina's still-dangerous aggression.

I love that we all have different favorite characters, couples, etc ... How boring would it be if we all liked the same things but sometimes I wonder if I'm watching the same show as others.

I absolutely loved this episode. Everything from Emma and Snow returning home, to Aurora getting her heart back, to Cora and Hook sailing into Storybrooke, to the sword fight, to the Emma/Henry hug, and so on.

But I can't believe people are actually calling the Charming's disrespectful and having no manners for not inviting Regina along to dinner. Seriously? After all she's done to them? She's done one or two good things and she expects an invite to family dinner? Um, no.

At 8pm, the fall finale of ABC’s Once Upon A Time surged over its Adult 18-49 lead-in (+94%) to rank #1 against its non-sports competition and stand as Sunday’s highest-rated scripted broadcast series. In addition, the ABC drama stood as the #1 TV program in its time period for the 2nd week in a row with key Women (W18-34/W18-49). ABC’s Once Upon A Time scores substantial gains via time-shifted playback, spiking over its preliminary numbers by 3.1 million viewers and by 1.4 Adult 18-49 rating points (+42%) in the final L+7 Day ratings. Increasing over the prior week, Once Upon A Time attracted its biggest audience since the beginning of November – since 11/4/12. In addition, the ABC drama was up week to week in Men 18-34 (+6%), Men 18-49 (+15%) and Kids 2-11 (+30%), while holding 100% of its National Adult 18-49 rating and up 3% over its week-ago Fast Affiliate young adult rating.

I saw this just now from "TV by the numbers." A lot of this mystifies me, but the language is very reassuring, especially going into the holiday hiatus -- it's good news. :)

How right you are, Jamie. ;) I don't know who those people are who were dissing on the Charmings, but I have a feeling that I wouldn't like them -- I definitely don't agree with their opinion; that's all it is, too, just an opinion. It would be only too easy to be sucked in to Regina's hurt at seeing everyone leave her in that ending scene -- easy, until one remembers that Regina caused all of this turmoil and richly deserves the emptiness that comes with her evil curse. She was warned, she had a choice, and she took the evil path -- she even killed her own father! And we haven't seen the end of her nastiness -- far from it.

I also like most of the characters on OUAT -- they all have entertaining and interesting parts in this fantastic mosaic. IMHO, Cora has emerged as my new favorite "baddie," and I think that the show runners erred in signing Meghan Ory and Emilie de Raven as regulars instead of Barbara Hershey. I don't know the details there, of course. I understand that they wanted to keep Meghan and Emilie from straying off to other projects, and maybe Barbara didn't want to be tied to a long term deal, but she is very good in her role and will hopefully be around for a long stretch to cause all kinds of mayhem. :)

Comotion, I agree with you too. It's just opinions but I have to wonder when people start talking about the Charming's as evil and supporting Regina, Rumple, and the like instead. <_<

I love to hate Cora. She's so nasty and calculating. That's how I like my villains. I love to hate them. While I believe in second chances and all that I just don't believe that Regina, Rumple, and Cora can come back from what they've done. So I'm just not interested in there redemption arcs at all.

I'm looking forward to seeing what trouble Cora and Hook stir up.

Right on, Jamie, I am so on the same wavelength with all that you write. I had a discussion here with Heather on an earlier post about people who support the evil characters so much -- I think that they are in serious need of couch therapy. And it's not the same thing as loving to hate the villains -- THAT is quite natural, IMO. Furthermore, if they knock the Charmings for being "evil," then they have to love them, since they seem to support the "other evils."

I am also looking forward to the Cora-Hook dynamic. Those two are eminently capable of causing all kinds of mischief. One thing I definitely don't want to see: any kind of ersatz relationship, i.e., romance, between Emma and Hook. That would never work, IMO. I saw where some Oncers were pushing for a Ruby-Hook ship. By all means, let them have at it. Ruby would eventually see that there is no future with such a self-absorbed sociopath (Colin's description of Hook, there), and maybe she would have him as a meal. Tick-tock. :D

OMG, I love you guys so much for saying a lot of what I wanted to say last night but ended up getting way too distracted by trying to watch Revenge and 666 Park Avenue after the awesomeness of OUAT...my brain was totally fried and useless by 11 PM, LOL

I cannot BELIEVE how many people hate the Charmings right now for not inviting Regina to dinner. On what planet does that even make sense?! She's done nothing but hurt that family for a long time and even more, she's the reason they've been separated for so many years (and the reason Snow & Emma disappeared in the first place since they were trying to save Regina from the wraith at the time). I'll admit that part of me felt bad for her when Henry left her behind but he did everything right in my book after the events of the episode. Regina is trying to change so she doesn't lose Henry but one or two good deeds doesn't undo everything she's done in the past. It's not going to be an easy road if she truly wants to redeem herself and I don't think the Charmings did a single thing wrong on their end. It's amazing how people forget all the previous stuff that happened when they're caught up in one random emotional moment. This is still driving me nuts 24 hours later! Emma herself thanked Regina for saving them and that was definitely a genuine thank you from her, Henry acknowledged what she did and showed affection for her, and no one kicked her out or was snotty to her or anything. She knew the consequences of enacting that curse and now she's paying the price for it. Some OUAT fans are really freaking me out lately with their insanity for characters that have done such evil things.

BTW-Don't listen to the official OUAT podcast this week if you guys ever do that. I usually enjoy them but this week's was totally worthless in my mind. It's all about all the villains and drumming up the sympathy for them. The Charmings, the reunion, and many of the other things from the episode aren't even mentioned by them (they barely even talked about Emma's new found magic which I thought was awesome). I was really disappointed in their podcast for the first time all season. :(

I also agree with you guys about having villains that we love to hate which Cora and Hook definitely are for me. Hook kind of straddles the fence sometimes (I'm curious about his back story because sometimes he seems to have some good in there somewhere but the pirate ruthlessness always seems to win out) but Cora is outright evil and I love watching her. It's going to be fascinating to see the two of them cause havoc in Storybrooke!

I'm still loving the fact that Cora can't rip out Emma's heart. That is BEYOND badass for Emma to realize that she might just have some pretty powerful magic locked away inside her and I hope she starts figuring out how to use that so she can help protect her family. She hasn't had much of anything in her life up to this point but I think this next part of the season will be more about her really understanding and figuring out her purpose in life which should be awesome.

And I LOVE Snarky Emma: "Isn't that what a spell book is? A book that has spells in it??!"

I loved this episode so much that I'm re-watching it right now and this is my third viewing of it...I may need therapy, LOL ;)

Hehe, I guess I was a little over excited last night! I didn't have time to ramble as much so I just rambled a little bit. You guys know me pretty well by now so my post last night probably didn't shock any of you, LOL

Another very good post from you, Heather, as always. :)
I can identify with your frustration and annoyance with comments from other sources, regarding OUAT. For me, such stuff reminds me of the anti-Cameron nonsense that infected so many similar forums during the HOUSE days, and there is no way that I will endure such garbage again. Things like "the official OUAT podcast" are most likely show-centric, so they have no particular loyalty to any one character, thus they hold no interest for me since I am only loyal to Emma and I can get all of the in-depth show info -- and Emma love -- from the friendly surroundings of this happy Forum. :D While that may not expand objectivity, I don't give a hoot. I sleep better at night. ;)
