Cartoon Network has picked up 26 episodes of the new MARVEL SUPER HERO SQUAD animated series to debut on the network in late 2009. MARVEL SUPER HERO SQUAD is an action-packed show featuring super-stylized versions of its most popular characters including Captain America, Silver Surfer, Hulk, Wolverine and Iron Man.

When the greatest heroes on the planet unite to face the world's greatest villains, you get the biggest, most family-friendly superhero team-up in TV history: Super Hero Squad. It's no small job protecting Super Hero City from VillainVille's infamous criminals, but Iron Man, Wolverine, the Hulk, the Silver Surfer, Thor and the Falcon are always up for the job.

Shouting "Hero Up!" as they rush into battle, the Squad must keep Dr. Doom's allies from gathering pieces of the Infinity Sword. Otherwise, Doom will use the Sword to rule the universe. Luckily, the city is filled with Marvel superhero guest-stars to help out in a pinch. These brave heroes totally deliver the action -- but with plenty of humor on the side.

Marvel has attracted some superstar talent to play the roles of the dynamic heroes and villains of MARVEL SUPER HERO SQUAD including: Tom Kenny (SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS), Charlie Adler (TRANSFORMERS, LOONATICS UNLEASHED), Steve Blum (WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN, HULK VS.) and Grey DeLisle (THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS and THE REPLACEMENTS).

Marvel has also secured some superstar talent to play the guest-stars of MARVEL SUPER HERO SQUAD including: Wayne Knight (SEINFELD), LeVar Burton (READING RAINBOW, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION), Michelle Trachtenberg (GOSSIP GIRL, BUFFY), Greg Grunberg (HEROES), Lena Headey (TERMINATOR: SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, 300), Adrian Pasdar (HEROES), Tricia Helfer (BATTLESTAR GALATICA), Jennifer Morrison (HOUSE), Tamera Mowry (TWITCHES and SISTER, SISTER), Robert Englund (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET films) and Stan Lee as the Mayor of Super Hero City.

Marvel Super Hero Squad Official Announcement!

Marvel.com has officially announced their new animated series, Marvel Super Hero Squad, which will debut on Cartoon Network with 26 episodes in late 2009!

Based on the popular toy line, Marvel Super Hero Squad features the biggest names in the Marvel Universe as they team up to protect Hero City from all the nasty bad guys who live in VillainVille. The show will be a mix of action and humour and will showcase "super deformed" versions of Marvel characters from all corners of the Earth.

The main team will consist of Iron Man, Wolverine, Hulk, Silver Surfer, Thor and Falcon but those who were at the New York Comic Con were told that you will also see Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Storm, Hawkeye, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Dr. Strange, Wasp, Misty Knight, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Heroes for Hire, Defenders and Reptile, a new character created for the show. The only major player missing from this list is Spider-Man who is under contract with Sony and probably won't show up in this show.

Together, the heroes will prevent the Lethal Legion, which consists of Doctor Doom, MODOK, Loki, Abomination, Mole Man and Fin Fang Foom, from gathering all the pieces of the Infinity Sword and taking over the universe! But wait, there's more! Dormammu, Toad, Klaw, Screaming Mimi, and the Wrecking Crew will be there to help out their villain buddies!

With accomplished voice actors like Steve Blum, Tom Kenny, Charlie Adler and Grey DeLisle on board, and with notable guest voices from Wayne Knight, LeVar Burton, Michelle Trachtenberg, Greg Grunberg, Lena Headey, Adrian Pasdar, Tricia Helfer, Jennifer Morrison, Tamera Mowry, and Robert Englund, and featuring Stan Lee as the Mayor of Super Hero City, it sounds like Marvel is taking this show very seriously.

Series writers include Matt Wayne (Justice League Unlimited) and Mitch Schauer (Angry Beavers).

I personally can't wait to see what this show is like. Yes, I know it will be geared to much younger market, but is so different that it has me super excited.
