Lifetime's 'Five' gets a premiere date

The Television Critics Association summer press tour began in earnest Wednesday (July 27), and Lifetime had several bits of news -- and an unexpected guest appearance. The rundown:

    - The cable channel has set a premiere date for its movie "Five," a series of linked short films about people dealing with breast cancer. The anthology, with segments directed by Patty Jenkins ("Monster"), Jennifer Aniston, Penelope Spheeris ("Wayne's World"), Demi Moore and Alicia Keys, will debut Monday, Oct. 10, in the middle of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

"Five" stars Jeanne Tripplehorn ("Big Love"), Ginnifer Goodwin ("Once Upon a Time"), Patricia Clarkson ("Friends With Benefits"), Rosario Dawson ("Zookeeper") and Lyndsy Fonseca ("Nikita"), each of whom plays a woman dealing with breast cancer. The cast also includes Josh Holloway, Jennifer Morrison, Taylor Kinney, Bob Newhart, Annie Potts, Tony Shalhoub, Jeffrey Tambor and Tracee Ellis Ross. "Friends" co-creator Marta Kauffman developed the project and is among its executive producers.

Very good work as usual, Aurore, in uncovering this information. It sounds like Jennifer has only a supporting role, but that's O.K. She has done many projects for the Lifetime Network and I'm looking forward to this next one. :)

    Five PREMIERES OCTOBER 10, 2011 AT 9 PM ET/PT

The groundbreaking original movie “Five” is an anthology of five short films exploring the impact of breast cancer on people’s lives. “Five” highlights the shared experience each short film’s title character endures from the moment of diagnosis, through an interconnected story arc that uses humor and drama to focus on the effect breast cancer and its different stages of diagnosis have on relationships and the way women perceive themselves while searching for strength, comfort, medical breakthroughs and, ultimately, a cure.

From executive producers Jennifer Aniston, Kristin Hahn (“The Departed,” “The Switch”), Kevin Chinoy (“Greg the Bunny,” “Warren the Ape”), Francesca Silvestri (“Greg the Bunny,” “Warren the Ape”), Marta Kauffman (“Friends”) and Paula Wagner (“The Last Samurai,” “Mission: Impossible”).

The all-star ensemble cast includes Patricia Clarkson, Rosario Dawson, Lyndsy Fonseca, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Holloway, Taylor Kinney, Jenifer Lewis, Jennifer Morrison, Kathy Najimy, Bob Newhart, Annie Potts, Tracee Ellis Ross, Tony Shalhoub, and Jeffrey Tambor and Jeanne Tripplehorn.
