Kelly: Coming up next jennifer morrisson from "once upon a time."

Michael: Our next guest plays the daughter of snow white and prince charming on the popular abc series "once upon a time" --

Kelly: That's a lot of pressure for a girl.

[Laughter]

Michael: Everyone please welcome the beautiful jennifer morrisson!

[Cheers and applause]

Michael: Have a seat.

>> Thank you.

Kelly: You know, jennifer is a chicago girl.

>> That's right.

Kelly: All the way from chicago. Early on you wanted to be an actress, right?

>> I did, yeah.

Kelly: A dream?

>> I just never thought of myself any other way. My mom said I came home and said well mom, I'm an actor why am I not in a play? She was like ok, I don't know we'll figure it out.

Kelly: Were your parents in show business? Did you have a show business family?

>> No, they're both music teachers, so there was a lot of music and art and all of that in the house. They sort of thought I was crazy, but were very supportive.

Kelly: That's great.

Michael: And when you got your start, do you get your start like going to do theater or modeling or something like that?

>> I got my start at woodfield mall.

[Laughter]

I don't know if any of you are from the midwest, but in the chicago suburbs, there's this big, big mall called woodfield, and they would have a back to school fashion show every year.

Kelly: Yes!

>> And so a thousand kids would line up, you get a number, I was literally like 1002 one year and they only picked 25 and so I got picked, like six years in a row

Kelly: Oh my gosh, that's incredible! I remember those back to school fashion shows and the kid models, to me as a kid, always seemed so glamorous.

>> Yes, it was very exciting. I got to wear all the best stuff from j.c. Penney.

[Laughter]

Michael: You're still excited about it.

>> It was like -- I looked forward to it every year, that's all I wanted to do. And agents from chicago would judge the contest, so that was sort of the first time the idea came up.

Kelly: You were discovered.

>> They came to my parents a couple of times, they were very skeptical, they heard the horror stories. So then we cut a deal when I was 10, I was like listen, if they ask for money or do something weird then, you know, we walk away. But if --

Kelly: I don't think as a 10-year-old, look if they try to scam us, we walk away.

>> Exactly. So, they were great. And then my mom started driving me into the city and we started going to auditions and I did a beanie weenies commercial and a rice crisp bies commercial.

Kelly: I saw you on the cover of "sports illustrated" with michael jordan backstage.

>> Yeah, that happened.

Kelly: That's you.

>> That's me.

Michael: How old are you in that picture?

>> 11 years old.

Michael: Were you nervous?

>> I was nervous to meet michael jordan. We followed the basketball at that point, very closely being from chicago. So, I worked up one really great question for him, which was so do you play basketball all year?

[Laughter]

And he was like no, I like to golf too. Ok. That was my big conversation with michael jordan.

Michael: You know, we got to take a quick break. When we come back, we would love to talk to you some more.

Kelly: We're back with jennifer morrisson, the beautiful star of "once upon a time," in its third season.

>> Yes.

Kelly: Which I love so much. I always say that your character, it's such high pressure for you to play the daughter of snow white and prince charming.

>> It's true, it's really hard. No. There is a certain amount of pressure for emma. Anytime you're playing a character that is titled the savior, you're immediately like oh god. So, there is definitely a weird pressure that comes with that, but it's also a lot of fun. I'm surrounded by an incredible ensemble of contactors, we all enjoy working together. Ginnifer goodwin and I have been friends for year --

>> I love her so much.

>> And being able to create something together. Not that we write it, but in terms of just bringing to life. So yeah, it's definitely an interesting challenge but definitely fun.

Kelly: Now when you grew up, were you into fairy-tales, because we were?

>> What were you guys into?

>> Well, we were prince charming and snow white, of course, hello.

>> That's why I feel so at home.

Michael: I thought I was like dopey or someone.

>> I was. We did a lot of traveling to disney, so my point of reference for fairy-tales was the disney, the disney versions and everything. I definitely knew all of the words to the little mermaid, you know, when I was little. Loved cinderella, my sister --

Michael: Your favorite cinderella?

>> Probably, I would say yeah. I realize it's running in the family, my little niece who's 2 and a half, ellie, hi ellie, if you're watching, she's adorable and she's obsessed with cinderella, obsessed. Just loves it. So my sister and I used to sing the roger and hammerstein's cinderella when we were little. I guess it's always been in my blood somehow.

Michael: Well, we're going to take a look at a clip. In this clip, jennifer's character emma is trying to find her son who has been kidnapped by peter pan. So here we go, jennifer morrisson in "once upon a time."

>> What's that?

>> Chocolate. I thought you might like the taste of something sweet.

>> We don't want to hurt you. We just need you to deliver a message to henry.

>> Why should I help you?

>> Because you had a home and fa family once. We're here to help, not just henry, but all of you. We can get you home.

>> Don't you get it? I'm here because I don't want to go home. None of us do.

>> Pan's a monster. Look what he did to you.

>> Pan didn't do that. Henry did. Cheers and applause]

Kelly: I cannot believe they did not cast me to play peter pan.

[Laughter]

I'm so mad at them! You tell everybody there I am mad!

>> I'm going to take your message back. I will relay the message.
